PAYMENTS

We accept all major credit cards listed on this website, as well as Paypal. You may also pay by personal check sent to our mailing address; shipping will occur after the check has cleared.

The Jaded Palette itself does not "charge" sales tax; we are required to collect it on behalf of the State. Similarly, any taxes imposed from time to time by other jurisdictions will be collected in accordance with applicable laws.



PACKAGING

                                                                       

We will gift wrap your purchase for free; just click on the box at check-out. Three samples are shown, but actual gift wrap varies. It depends on what is around, because we recycle everything. We promise your gifts will look pretty and professional, and the packaging will be eco-friendly.

If you would like a gift card enclosed, tell us in the special notes box. We hope our customers will recycle gift wrap and boxes. Schools, camps, libraries, etc. often accept same for arts and crafts projects.

If you do not request gift wrapping, your jewelry will be packed in an ugly, used plastic bag with writing and/or half-peeled labels on it. This is not a typo. We mean ugly. We expect you may wonder why.

                                                                        

The jewelry industry remains in the dark ages on sustainability and green practices. A modest monthly order from our suppliers averages 70 small plastic bags, or, for a small business like The Jaded Palette, 840 plastic bags a year.

They do it where gold, sterling, pearls and gemstones (among our favorite components) are involved for "inventory" purposes. So, a bag may hold a single 14 carat ear wire or bead. We would love to change industry practice, but until that occurs, we must do something about this mountain of plastic.

    

                                                                     

 

We do not send gifts out in used plastic bags. For new paper products we strive to use only those certified by the Forest Stewardship Council or FSC. For more on this, see Our Mission.


                                                                     

SHIPPING

Shipping is free on all orders to the 48 contiguous states. In addition, we provide insurance on all items at no charge to the customer. Merchandise is sent first class mail via the US Postal Service. For insurance purposes, the USPS requires a signature upon delivery for items over $200. It need not be the addressee, but someone must sign.

 

We think this inconvenience outweighs the risk that a piece of jewelry is lost or damaged in transit. You may choose NOT to have insurance by sending us a note at checkout, but all risks of loss and damage are then for the customer's account. We will not provide a refund if the customer elects not to have insurance.

 

For faster delivery, we are happy to arrange expedited service at the customer's expense. The cost of insurance then becomes  the customer's responsibility as well. Email us, and we will get a quote from your preferred carrier.


We are not set up for international shipping at this time. Non-US website visitors interested in making a purchase are advised to email the Company. We may decide in our discretion to make an exception to this policy, in which case additional costs may apply. In such an event the customer is responsible for all customs duties, value-added taxes and excise taxes imposed by any jurisdiction and insurance.



RETURNS AND REFUNDS

The customer may cancel any transaction prior to shipment at no cost, subject to any applicable credit card fees. Transactions cancelled after shipment constitute returns and are subject to our returns policies.

We provide a guarantee of 100% satisfaction, which means you may return a piece of jewelry for ANY reason (or no reason). We will provide a full refund, subject to each of the following conditions:

 

• Returns must be postmarked not later than 90 days from date of shipment.


• No returns are accepted and no refunds are given for lost, missing or damaged items where the customer has declined insurance. (See Shipping and Returns.)


• The costs of return shipping and insurance are the customer's responsibility. If an item under return is lost or damaged in transit, and the customer has failed to provide insurance, no refund will be made.


• The security loop with tag must still be affixed to the jewelry, and the jewelry must be in the same saleable condition as shown on this site.


• Jewelry must be returned with the original packing materials.


• Refunds will only be given for goods returned in accordance with these procedures.

 

PLEASE NOTE THAT PRODUCTS ALTERED AT THE CUSTOMER'S REQUEST ARE NOT RETURNABLE. See our Alterations policy.


In addition to the foregoing, we offer a one-year warranty on materials and workmanship, subject to normal wear and tear (surfing, bungee jumping and quick sand will most definitely void this warranty). Exposure to perfumes, lotions, makeup or other chemicals (including household cleansers) may damage your jewelry, and at our sole discretion, may void this warranty. Warranty events will result in repairs, not refunds.

Your beads are treasures; many are irreplaceable and all are beautiful. Please protect them.
